I thought the same as well but then I went down the docker/container route for making something similar to k8s it turned out to be just reimplementing k8s badly. The reason k8s is so complicated is the horrible infatuation with walls of YAML and CRDS, think of YAML and CRDS as XML and XMLNS for those of us who lived through XML.
