Now that anyone can generate a halfway decent pop song at the snap of the finger leads to one of three outcomes. We all just listen to our own interactive stations and have no shared culture, pressure is put on industry to differentiate with a higher quality product, the technology is democratizing and unlocks a new generation of creatives who are able to work with it creating an amplified output.
#4 Some continue merrily onwards with weekly / regular jam sessions with friends and passers through, catering to all skill levels and largely ignoring top 40 and AI trends.
I don't understand your comment. It's poorly-punctuated, and its hard to figure out what your position is. What's a "pie hole" as a metaphor for a person? Is that what you meant?
My tone is a sarcastic depressive one attempting to convey the ridiculousness of the vaccuum we are in. A vaccuum that a few pie holes (nicer word then a-hole) have created and are benefitting greatly from while it causes many to millions lots of stress/anxiety/pain.
As a hobbyist musician and songwriter of decades i was excited about AI music in October. I could finally take my rough demos of me singing along to my guitar and make better demos then just using garageband as Im not much of a singer. I enjoyed using Suno for a month or less then realize this is shit .... my own songs are AI slop just like everyone else - all sounds the same and my songwriting talents are meaningless now with anyone can now do this. I didnt listen to my slop for months then the band I play in asked to hear some slop of mine and then / there my AI slop had some redeeming quaility. As with my band (church band) and I listening and then playing along to my slop. Just slop writers can now play their slop like real musicians can........
At least not yet Im sure robots will and also an AI microphone with AI built in will be created so everyone sings amazingly.....
Overall AI is stealing humanity from us all, we are allowing it and it is only to the benefit of a few rich pie holes.
But just think… soon we’ll be able to pay some SV company to exercise all of the creative and intellectual effort we would have had to do manually with our squishy meat thought boxes… yuck! Disgustingly inefficient. With the convenience of simulated romance, brilliance, excitement, art, music, relationships, faith, a sense of wonder, sex, human connection, joy, exploration, and everything else that manifested itself in the real world with real obstacles and pushback and negative feelings, we’ll have plenty of time to do all of the menial jobs that are left. What a win!
Web design / digital design is a dying field as businesses will start paying one person who does 3 to 4 roles (PM, UX Research, Design and UI Development - tho why use a design tool for web stuff when AI tools generate designs in code), as well now tons of ppl can do this work using AI tools. Further, is the future of digital experiences user interfaces aka the web or will there be an AI Phone where everything is done / seen on the lock screen (AI generates the visuals as you text or talk to it) and or its more of a text and voice digital experience less UI.
Overall after being laid off in January and a 17 year UX Research/Design/Dev career Im starting school in my early 50s to change careers.
>AI Phone where everything is done / seen on the lock screen (AI generates the visuals as you text or talk to it) and or its more of a text and voice digital experience less UI.
I think more expressive UIs are the future but i disagree with this sort of thing being accomplished with a non deterministic tool such as AI generating UIs, you are throwing stability and consistency along with familiarity out the window.
The idea of tools being almost UI-less and composable and modular has been a "dream" since xerox parc or see for example the book "the humane interface" which happens to also ahead of its time outline reasons why such generative interfaces would be a bad idea especially at such a large scale.
AI can potentially relieve some friction with that paradigm but definitely not in that way or even that extent.
Only streaming app I use and always have used. I have subscribe to the others yet always canceled even at $3 a month. They are not worth it compared to YouTube that's free and for me the best using my Mac Mini connected to my TV (wireless mouse as remote).
In high school i started to hear melodies/lyrics pop in my head and it prompted to learn instruments - pursued songwriting dream in college in Nashville (just a hobbyist since). I was initially excited about using Suno -- make the songs how they're heard in my head a reality as my rough garageband demos with me singing isnt how i hear them. Also, people arent excited by singing. Though my excitement wore off as I started to feel uninspired that it now takes zero talent/zero effort to write songs.
I took a break from Suno for many months .. attacking everyones slop including my own but my bandmates like my AI songs. Now at practice (80s & 90s music band) we listen and play along to the AI versions and have thrown in two into our setlist. Thus, for me Ive finally found an inspiring human usage of AI music! No text prompter could ever enjoy playing / performing their music in a band and to an audience and receive live human feedback. That's unless they do what millions other musicians have done .. cultivate their talent/musical interest.
Well something potentially is happening as since 2011 as web designer, developer and later a UX Researcher on LinkedIn i'd receive 3 to 10 recruiter emails saying they are looking to fill a position. Towards the end of 2025 that pretty much dried up and this year it has dried up and I was laid off.
Im starting school again and changing careers fairly late in life but that's what my intuition says is best for me.
DOGE was headhunting me late July through end of December.
Their recruiters are all anonymous when they reach out as they do not provide their names. I constantly questioned to myself and them directly if they were legit even if their email address showed as RecruitingUSDS@doge.eop.gov (their public email address seen on USDS). The first recruiter I demanded a video call with and asked him to bob and weave his head (lol). He never gave me his last name (all his emails came from that public address and they signed their emails with first name only) but I found him on Linkedin. He was late 20s to late 30s. From there I was asked to do/turned in a case study and after the govt shutdown I was invited to interview with a DOGE employee whom then her email showed her full name. I didnt make it past her as there was another step in their process which is an in person interview at USDS's office or within another govt agency DOGE working at.
I was a paying customer ($20 a month) until AI prompted a layoff in my dying field that is web design and front end design coding. Now everytime chatGPT yells at me about memory i tell it fine Im just gonna use Gemini! I bet a lot of ppl are doing the same thing as both sit at the top of the iPhone charts.
- Write a new top 40 song no talent required
- Write a business email, a school paper, etc & no talent required
- Design a logo, a website, an app, a billboard, etc and no talent required.
AI is the best thing to happen to humanity as it mimics & steals humanity for a few pie holes and us the majority does nothing to stop it!
