Political parties, social networks, religions. these are all engineered systems. All of them including AI involve people. For starts nobody is going to do the massive amount of work to train a useless AI that is skeptical and cynical. Imaginination, Agreeability (which causes hallucinations) is a feature, not a bug. In humans and in LLMs.
What actually happens is that the 1% is ignored or outlawed. The shovel doesn't do 100% of human excavating tasks better than hands, but we rightly realized that the space of possibilities involving a shovel was much greater than the 1% of hand powered excavation.
Research papers are already summarized, at the top there is a section called "Abstract" which includes the summary. Usually the first and last sentences are the relevant abstraction layer for most people.
When automation comes along it gives humans the time to actually think about what they are doing and whether it even makes sense. Is your goal to motivate some research? That likely requires a conversation with one or more authors. Otherwise it's an exercise in narcissism. I am the elite who will bestow this sacred knowledge unto the commoners and cross-disciplinary researchers who cannae understand it without me.
With automation more people are unfit, but some people are better in every metric that exists. What's important is that everybody has the freedom, if they wish, to achieve those top metrics. Insofar as those metrics don't involve direct control overs resources, since those will always be gatekept and require the approval of others.
The US wants too keep the price of oil high so they can get investment in the Venezuelan oil fields. But they don't want the global economy to collapse.
I think it was mostly caused by the reclaimed oil fields in Venezuela and the us and Israeli governments being packed full of Zionists. I don't feel it was particularly shocking.
In Iraq (2003) are the Kurds not considered citizens? Since they certainly weren't unified. In Kuwait (1991) there was no resistance from the civilians, they didn't fight for Iraq. In Lebanon (1983) many welcomed Israli troops. In (1916) did the Arabs unify against the French and British? No some rebelled against the Turks.
It's illegal to hand a minor harmful material. Meta did exactly that.
I support people's rights to make and buy sports cars, But it is illegal to hand the keys to a minor and leave them unsupervised.
Planes aren't trying to replace birds. ML is trying to replace humans, so unless they also demonstrate that quick learning ability isn't necessary to perform the tasks a human does the measures still make sense.
All of flapping, flying and intelligence are physical actions. If your "flying" machine can't get up to altitude fast enough to avoid small hills then it's not an adequate flying system.
Despite so many claims an LLM has never done any interesting task better than a human. I could claim that cat is better than humans at writing text, but the non-specificity of my language here makes that statement simultaneously meaningless and incorrect. Another meaningless and incorrect (but less incorrect than most pro AI sttements) "git clone" is better at producing correct and feature rich c compiler code than $20,000 worth of Claude tokens.
