The article places Newt Gingrich in this timeline

Newt Gingrich of Georgia carried Buchanan’s culture
war into the House speakership. For Gingrich, politics
was solely about winning; his scorched-earth approach
treated opponents as enemies and compromise as treason.

He wanted votes, and wasn’t concerned about who was
    animated by his viciousness.
This aligns with my understanding. Which is that Gingrich mainstreamed the practice of crafting malicious animosity about political opponents and then sowing that enmity throughout as much of the electorate as possible.

Some years back. Zoe Chase did an extraordinarily good story about it. It's part of a TAL episode. https://www.thisamericanlife.org/662/transcript

NASA's site is really cumbersome for me to use. This site is a better fit for me.

It's a nice summary; too bad about all the extraneous blinkenlights and crt simulation crap

This link was in a front page comment today: https://issinfo.net/artemis.html

Much better, thank you :D

This wiki has a map showing where Tristan da Cunha is, in relation to Saint Helena and Ascension islands.

I just bought a T16 Gen3 for a client - who is very happy with it. Great keyboard, brilliant display and very performant.

It was a core5 ultra w/ 16GB/512GB for $575 new. I couldn't find a price for the monster in the article (core9 ultra, 32GB..nice).

I got an E16, AMD not Intel so decent graphics and performance, 8GB upgraded to 40GB (this was before the AI price crunch), for around USD650 or so. And it outperforms the (admittedly Intel so kinda sucky especially graphics but also other stuff like the whiny fan that's almost always running and the plastic flaking off the "carbon fibre" case) X1 I replaced. So their budget laptop is better than their flagship one.

I offer that by eradicating free-roaming and adult-free hours - this cripples kids' growth more than anything AI might do.

I've been using MSEdgeRedirect for years. It intercepts calls to Edge and sends them to whatever browser you want. It's for when Windows ignores your default browser and opens Edge w/o your consent.

This command creates a registry entry that prevents Edge from running. It redirects output of msedge.exe to rundll32 (which does nothing).

The command is all one line. It'll work with any .exe

reg add "hklm\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\image file execution options\msedge.exe" /v Debugger /d rundll32
